Anew!

Journal Entry: Tue Jul 15, 2008, 10:00 AM
Hey everybody. Sorry I haven't been around, or doing any drawing, painting, or whatnot. The muse fuse went out, and now I'm bored enough to relight it.

So, first off, I'm going to be deleting all my messages and deviations that I've accumulated, and from this point on, I'll try to be as responsive as I can, until the muse fuse goes out again.

Danke!

Dabblin'

Journal Entry: Sun Apr 6, 2008, 5:23 AM
Okay, so I've been dabbling in music composition a bit. Just some self taught self, and I figure'd I'd see how crappy it is by posting a link to my newest ' piece'.

For those wonderin'

Journal Entry: Fri Mar 14, 2008, 10:21 AM
So, it's been a while since I last updated or drew anything, without going into too many details, I had a 'artists block', (less of a block, more of a 'I'm lazy';), and started learning to compose some MUZICKA.

Then some bad stuff happened, and now I'm just sick, in general discomfort, in a lot of pain, and will be in more soon. (Dentists suck)

I haven't been commenting on anyone's stuff because while I have been coming to DA every so often, I've almost become disenchanted (since I stopped posting stuff). I'll start commenting once everything is better, but until then, I'm very sorry.

One a Day 'n' stuff.

Alrighty, so this will be a three part journal. Of which two parts are actually one, but lets get on with zit!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Part One: Style.
I want everyone who reads this, to draw something in a style you normally don't draw in. Right now. Go do it, nothings stopping you, NOW! (Nyah)
(Kidding about the now part, but do it as soon as possible, kthxbye)
One thing that bothers me, especially prominent in well established and popular artists (and even moreso, the one's I've observed on DeviantArt) is style.
What's so wrong about that? (You quietly ask yourself ^_^)
The thing with styles, is, they inherently inhibit an artist's creative and artistic potential. Let me explain. Art is how an artist expresses their feelings, inner secrets, and any other thing that they can't quite let out, even given a thousand words or more. Style is how the artist makes their art. It's as much apart of them as their favorite music or movie.
Fortunately, or not so, Art is also a skill. By limiting yourself to one style, you're in its most basic form, simply limiting yourself. If you draw in one style, eventually, you will be satisfied, happy, and to many other people, you may even become a master at that style (such as drawing chibi's, or anime, or stickmen). The problem is, once you become 'that good', your skill no longer increases, you're probably as good in your style at you can be.
So start skipping around, draw stuff that you've never drawn before in styles that you never use. I think that's one way to being a good artist.
(Of course, all of that could just because I like drawing all types of random stuff)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Part Two and Three: One a Day and Dream a Day.

One a Day is a project I started for myself, in which I have to draw (and usually upload) at least one thing a day (except for weekends/holidays). By doing this, for as long as I can draw, I hope to become eternally better at drawing, painting, and other things. Whatever I draw, can be as simple as a stickman talking to his hand, or as complicated as a masterpiece, it doesn't matter as long as I do (aha, betcha guessed it) one a day.

So now I'm adding onto that bit of project, and the addition is called Dream a Day. I am known (among my close circle of friends), as a dreamer. Not in the sense of wanting things I can't have (but that's me too), but in the sense that all of my dreams are extremely vivid and memorable.

Whereas a normal person might remember (and probably forget) a dream once a week or so, I get them everyday, and more often then not, I can recall three, or four dreams, per day. I also never forget my dreams, as they're a source of inspiration for me.

So what is this Dream a Day (you might be asking yourself, or not...)

It's simply an addition (or change) to One a Day, in which if I so choose, I will pick the most interesting, or memorable, or vivid moment in one of my dreams, and instead of drawing something random (such as the one-a-day project), I will attempt to recreate my dream in art (and I will be putting some of the dream in the text below it)

All Dream-a-day pictures will be preceded by DaD, otherwise, should I feel not comfortable drawing a dream, or am too lazy to, I will continue to submit as I always have.

Kayla out and about!

Edit: If you make a picture in a new style different from your old style, drop a comment with a link to one of the best references of your old style, and a link to a picture of style you just experimented with. That'd be awesome, danke.

The Breakup Song

Journal Entry: Fri Feb 15, 2008, 5:10 AM
"Life, is, in a word, a mountain"

Okay, so, this has nothing to do with the breakup song, or breaking up, its just I'm listening to it at the moment of writing this.

Just brief subjects on my mind. Prison, AudioSurf, Shadows, Awesome.

Prison, as I'm slowly working and refining (I keep restarting) a prison 'scene' that should've only taken an hour to draw, but I like it.

AudioSurf, as its awesome. Google it, love it, have its babies.

Shadows, as that will be the main character in the prison scene.

Awesome, because I am just completely freaking awesome. Deal.

Kayla.
